Reasons to Hire a Professional Newborn Photographer
We are trained in safety!
While you are pregnant you do hours of research when picking a carseat, the best bottles, diapers and a pediatrician for your new baby. When trusting your baby with a baby sitter, doctor or photographer, you want someone with a lot of experience, someone that is gentle and knows how to handle newborns. You are trusting part of your heart with a stranger and you want to be sure that your baby will be safe and well taken care of. It's just as important to do this with experienced newborn photographers!
Many of the poses we do during a newborn session are more complicated than they look and having a professional newborn photographer is essential to making sure your baby is safe 100% of the time. Having an assistant there ensures that eyes are on your baby the entire session keeping them safe and comfortable. Professional photographers should be trained on how to keep your baby safe as well as know several techniques to keep your baby soothed and comfortable in order to get those adorable poses.
Not to mention babies can be extremely unpredictable. We don't know when they will want to eat, or will become fussy for some unknown reason. A professional photographer will have enough experience to quickly switch gears and be able to get those gorgeous pictures in a way that keeps everyone happy.
We have professional equipment, lighting and software.
The newborn stage really only lasts 2-3 weeks after delivery and you get one shot to capture them this little. A professional photographer will have professional grade equipment when it comes to camera, lens, and lighting. With the right lighting you will end up with gorgeous shadows and depth as well as capture your baby's coloring to perfection and knowing how to position this lighting is half the battle.
We will also provide you with access to hundreds of props that have been specifically made and designed with photography in mind. Cheaper props are generally ill fitting and won't photograph as well. Someone with experience should be able to style your newborn session in a way that is timeless and will give you that classic look you want in order to love these images throughout generations.
Last of all, the right editing software is imperative to making any photo go from lovely to extraordinary. Not to mention that a full service studio (like Kristen Noelle Photography!) will walk through the entire ordering process as well. There are so many choices when it comes to picking where to print your images and only professional photographers have access to labs that will deliver heirloom quality pieces you'll be enjoying years from now.
You get a completely stress free experience!
When working with a trained professional it will be a seamless experience! After delivery, you are sleep deprived and recovering from birth. That first month can fly by in such a haze and the last thing you want to worry about is how to dress for pictures or buy special props for a newborn session.
Our studio is stocked with props for the pictures, snacks and drinks for clients, a comfortable seating area as well as a separate area for siblings. We have toys and coloring books to keep your older kids entertained when they aren't having their pictures taken. We also make sure to meet with you ahead of time to discuss colors you'd like used and we will have all the set ups ready to go. My assistant and I take care of baby from start to finish and you won't have to worry about a thing.
We make an effort to spend time before hand really getting to know you and your vision for the session. We will make set ups according to your style, and this is the perfect time to match that nursery or make sure that your family outfits will go with the decor in your home. It's so important to us that everything goes smoothly from start to finish so it's not just about delivering that perfect final product, but also that you are enjoying the entire experience!
They are only little for a little while
Last but certainly not least, your baby will only be a newborn for 2-3 weeks. That's it! There are no redo's and no makeup days. Once babies reach 3 weeks of age they start to become more alert, their bellies round out and they start growing rapidly. It's important to book your newborn session as early as possible so we can get you in during that 3 week window. Our hope is that when you look back at these pictures you will be reminiscing about that newborn smell, the curly toes and the feeling you got when they handed your baby to you for the first time. These really are images you will treasure forever.
